That time when we arrived in Yosemite on the heels of a winter storm as it cleared out...

It was interesting how clear the air was below the clouds…really liked how the details of trees and rocks were well defined

“I've known rivers: I've known rivers ancient as the world and older than the flow of human blood in human veins. My soul has grown deep like the rivers.”
― Langston Hughes

A last image (maybe) of this bend on the Colorado...and gratitude to Langston Hughes

May all of you live, learn, and grow

A follow up to the last image I posted, captured a few minutes later...the sky was alight and that mixing of cool and warm air began as soon as the shadows overtook the canyon

"Truth is always the enemy of power. And power the enemy of truth."
- Edward Abbey

And it seems readily apparent that truth is the enemy of the current administration

In light of recent developments with the "E" files, very tempted to post on FB (where most family/friends/former coworkers are) a giant middle finger to all of them who think I've been too outspoken in my disdain, disgust, and alarm re: The Orange Menace, since he came down that goddam escalator

“Our society is much more interested in information than wonder, in noise rather than silence...And I feel that we need a lot more wonder and a lot more silence in our lives”
― Fred Rogers

A mono version of an image I posted recently...we're overloaded with information and the noise is deafening

What remains of a once stately oak tree in the foothills of Mt. Diablo. It succumbed a little more than a year ago.

The shadows from the winter sun suggest an approaching darkness.

This post is really about Alex Pretti and Renee Good, taken from this world in an inhuman, immoral way

“Hold on to what is good, even if it’s a handful of earth. Hold on to what you believe, even if it’s a tree that stands by itself. Hold on to what you must do, even if it’s a long way from here. Hold on to your life, even if it’s easier to let go...”

Thank you, Gav for suspending entry fees in honor of Dr. King. Went wide with this image because of those wonderful wispy clouds.

― Martin Luther King Jr.

A trio of oaks from my morning walk in the neighborhood...

A thin valley fog provided a chill at the start, but it quickly burned off as the temperature warmed. The buckeye trees in the area have little buds on the branches waiting to bloom.

This is pretty much winter in these parts

Soooo...Machado gives the Nobel medal to 'him' after his incessant lobbying and whining. And then adults of a certain age wonder why our youth seem entitled. You know, participation ribbons and such. Have a look in the mirror.

For Bob Weir...
While I never was a Dead Head, I do appreciate the band, the music, and the words...
"...There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone..."

"When dreaming I'm guided to another world
Time and time again
At sunrise I fight to stay asleep
'Cause I don't wanna leave the comfort of this place
'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape
From the life I live when I'm awake..."
-Mark Tremonti / Scott Stapp, "Higher"

it is definitely this
Walz: "I couldn't help but think, and it scares me a bit -- 'The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most important directive.' It certainly feels like that in this moment."

"...If you hear the song I sing
You will understand (listen)
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command..."
