"Would you teach your children to tell the truth?
Would you take the high road if you could choose?
Do you believe you're a victim of a great compromise?
'Cause I believe you could change your mind and change our lives..."

"Thunder on the mountain heavy as can be
Mean old twister bearing down on me
All the ladies of Washington scrambling to get out of town
Looks like something bad gonna happen
Better roll your airplane down"

From a morning walk yesterday...a nearby hillside with morning glare enhanced from a juiced-up atmosphere that gave us quite an afternoon of wind and rain...

I voted once for Trump in 2016 - I've learned right wing media is just a propaganda machine... ask yourself if the principles of this administration are actually in line with the teachings of Jesus. All they're doing is exploiting the poor for the benefit of the billionaires.

I may have referenced the passage by Black Elk (see alt text) before...thought it was a good reminder for the holidays and the times...

It's Festivus, and in recent years I've posted related things on other SM sites...this year, just not feeling it. Feeling like it's Festivus all year 'round, especially with the airing of grievances.

So, instead, a wintry scene with a tree

“Want to keep Christ in Christmas? Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted, care for the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done unto you.”
― Steve Maraboli, "Unapologetically You"

Figured I'd air a grievance for #Festivus

As today is the winter solstice, it appears that all trees in the area decided today is the day to drop all remaining leaves.

I mean, like...ALL

Eastern Sierra? Early.

Yosemite? Early.

Coastal? Nah. We're good.

Until today.

The Winter Solstice is hours away, so I'll take a moment to bid farewell to, and express my gratitude for, the most wonderful season for me...autumn.

How nice to transition from the heat of summer to the colorful wonderland of fall...until our next go 'round...

Sharing an image by G Dan Mitchell of a scene in Death Valley...I'm really enjoying this one

"Your lips are moving, I (will not) hear
Your voice is (grating, and) the words aren't clear
You don't sound different, I've learned the game
I'm looking through you, you're (still) the same..."

Took liberties with the song. Nothing to do with recent televised stuff...OK, everything to do with that

“Woodland Carnage”

After all that time and effort raking the woodland here in California, and now we have to figure out how to deal with this before the rainy season ends.

(snark intended)

Oaks near the top of a nearby ridge...the ceiling of the fog was not far away, and in some areas the sky was brighter than below.

The foggy dreariness of the last few weeks will be replaced by a prolonged period of rain...such is winter in much of Northern and Central California...

Rob Reiner made movies that will resonate for generations. They likely made you laugh, tugged your heart, made you look back wistfully at the past, put you at the edge of your seat, gaze at your significant other with love and challenged the status quo.
Rob Reiner was a good man.

When processing this image, I noticed a little dark speck on the trunk…I zoomed in and saw an ant making its way up the tree. “The Little Engine That Could” came to mind…
