thing I learned this week that doesn't make sense and is probably wasteful:

NY agencies can opt to *only* accept appeal letters for records requests by POSTAL MAIL even though those same agencies are required to accept records requests electronically (i.e. email or portal) #FOIAFriday #OpenRecords

just received what I *lovingly* refer to as a "ransom note" from @nysdoh.bsky.social for a FOIL request I filed last month

my request has 2 parts and only 1 part asks for email communications but lack of specific email addresses is apparently sufficient grounds to unalive my entire request 🥀 ⚰️
