Little morning climb session cause it’s a work from home day 💫

I finally got this V5 that’s handily the hardest V5 I’ve worked on. Easily harder than many V6s imo.

Really proud of this one, even if it isn’t my most impressive send by the numbers.

Like beat for beat it hits all the same story notes as that book. It feels like the core conception of this book was “AWoE but modern setting and the MC is a piece of shit”

I get that more people will understand a comparison to HP, but the book shares very little DNA at all with that series.

Just finished The Magicians by Lev Grossman and when I finish a book I’ll often look up what people say about it online, just out of curiosity.

Lots of people comparing it to Harry Potter because of the wizard school setting.

But it’s very clearly an homage to “A Wizard of Earthsea” though?

I know to a lot of us, this “the cities are burning” narrative is so patently ridiculous that it doesn’t seem like effective propaganda, but a lot of rural/suburban conservatives believe it.

These people believe our cities have been war zones for half a decade. This belief justifies their hate.

I moved from NYC to upstate New York in 2020 and I remember having to explain to my conservative coworkers that the city had not actually been razed that summer.

I had to explain that the city was actually more pleasant than ever to go on a lovely walk in, because of all the closed streets.

I tried this very complicated Hunan street food crispy rice sandwich recipe. It was super tasty but unable to hold sandwich form so it became crispy rice bowl instead. Still banged though.
