I can’t imagine they’d have standing to sue on behalf of everyone. Reporters have been attacked, so the companies that hire them are directly affected and thus have the right to sue. Other people attacked also have a right to sue, (in different cases). You and I don’t have a right to sue, yet.

Obviously. Do you think the "fuck them kids" thugs would do likewise when taking fire, or just open up on anything that moves? I suspect they'd just kill everybody in the apartment, and (if they had to) write it up later as "unfortunately, several children were caught in the crossfire."

I think Castle Doctrine would apply, and you'd be legally in the clear to shoot them. On the other hand, there were dozens of them, wearing body armor and carrying assault rifles, pumped up on steroids and meth. Awoken at 1:00am, you'd be groggy, and I don't know if you'd survive the encounter.

I suspect the regime wanted tariffs so that they could have a source of revenue that they could use in a shutdown to fund things that consolidate their power. If that's the case, their secret police will still be paid, even as the military is required to work without paychecks.

I suspect they will continue funding all of the stuff that supports the regime's consolidation of power. They'll strip funding from anything (including courts) that opposes it, and from everything they just don't like, and keep military and essential services working without pay.
