Tom Bowman has held his Pentagon press pass for 28 years. He says the Pentagon's new media policy makes it impossible to be a journalist, which means finding out what's really going on behind the scenes and not accepting wholesale what any government or administration says.

Just reading @aliadastagir.bsky.social and this grabbed me:

‘Many men suggest women and especially feminist women are humourless, that we don’t make good comedians. But they don’t understand how much laughing we have to do just to survive.’

I hear what she’s saying, but her comments do obscure the way online hate is connected to systems of misogyny, racism, anti-Blackness, transphobia, fatphobia, homophobia, and other forms of oppressive violence. Logging off/tuning out can be individually healthy but it isn’t a collective answer.

On the "New Heights" podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce, Swift talks about how she and Travis handle internet opinions differently.

Good lord. The MMWR is a hallmark of public health practice. Firing its editors will impact you and how your local health department functions.

I'm very sad reading about the passing of Diane Keaton. One of the highlights of my career was meeting her at La Paloma when she and I were both walking across the parking lot. She was gracious and lovely, I'll never forget that day. 💔

Fall is here‼️ I’m so grateful for the quiet flame within 🔥 the steady pulse of being that reminds me I am alive and ready for the next adventure, connected, and whole. Each breath fans it gently. Each moment, a spark of grace. ✨🙏🍁🍂

Here's what is in the Trump compact proposed to the University of Arizona. Some terms seem benign, others extreme, but the key is: If the feds decide you violated any of them, you must pay back all of your federal funding for that year. It's a sword of Damocles.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration can use a person’s ethnicity to conduct immigration-related stops.

Nevertheless, Justice Kavanaugh acknowledged this type of profiling will result in U.S. citizens being detained.

I think one of the better, more subtle tributes to Robert Redford's life is the string of utterly iconic female co-stars who've come forward to eulogize him; each of them take-no-shit types like Fonda and Streisand, and every one of them without a single bad thing to say. A model for male behavior
