Seven months ago, the Liberals said cutting the HST from home heating couldn’t be done.

They blocked you from saving money — just so they could campaign on it later.

If I’d known it would take an election for them to act, I would’ve called for one every week.

Thank you to Yvette Coffey and the team at @rnunl.bsky.social for having me on the Scrubbing In and Speaking Out podcast to discuss the NDP’s position on issues directly impacting their members and truly all healthcare workers.

Today, Sheilagh O'Leary and I announced the NDP commitment to removing the provincial HST from all forms of home heating. Not just electricity, but wood, oil, and propane. We would keep the $500 oil rebate in place to ensure that we are getting more money back into peoples pockets.

I had an excellent time out canvassing in Arnold's Cove with our candidate for Placentia West-Bellevue Jasmine Paul. Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak to us. I know that Jasmine will be a strong voice for the people of this district.

That’s why today, along with Henry House, NDP candidate for Conception Bay East–Bell Island, I announced that an NDP government will phase out for-profit shelters and reinvest in the non-profits that are doing the work people in this province need.

We should have a government that prioritizes the people of this province above all else.

We’ve got people who are trying to help through non-profits but they just aren’t getting the support from the government – the Liberals are choosing to prioritize for-profits corporations.

Education for all.

Thank you MUNSU, MUNFA, CFS, and all involved in today's march to bring back the tuition freeze.

Memorial University, the students, faculty, and workers, are our future. It's time for a government that recognizes that, not with words, but with actions.

We have heard heartbreaking stories over the last number of years about senior couples being split up when entering long-term care.

That is why the NDP committed to bringing in new legislation that prioritizes couples being placed together in long-term care.

Today is a day to reflect, to learn, and to continue fighting for justice for Indigenous people and communities.
I hope to see you at the First Light Rally at 2pm today.

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today is a day to reflect on the history of residential schools in this country and in our province. 1/4

Today I announced the NDP's commitment to raising the First Time Home Buyers Program from $1500 to $3000 so that more people can make their dream of owning a home a reality.

They put their own politics ahead of helping families save money.

You deserve a better deal.

Thank you David, Catherine, Elijah and Penelope for hosting us today to release the NL NDP's costed platform.

It offers practical and responsible solutions to immediately lower costs for families and gets our healthcare system back on track – but it does so in a way that lives within our means.

Lowering costs.
Fixing healthcare.
No new taxes.
No service cuts.

All with 4 balanced budgets.

That’s the NDP plan.

Today, I announced the NDP NL Cares healthcare plan, a robust, solutions-driven healthcare plan aimed at tackling the staffing shortages and improving patient care across the province.

My commitment to transparency clear: putting the people of Newfoundland and Labrador first and bringing in political finance reform within 100 days following comments made defending the status quo of corporate donations by both the Liberal and Conservative campaigns. @nlndp.bsky.social

Today, as part of the NL NDP’s commitment to becoming the most transparent government in the province’s history, I announced that we would end the revolving door between NL cabinets and corporate boards who have interests before the province by extending the cooling off period for elected officials.

This morning before heading to Labrador, I announced the NDP's Regional Transit Strategy.

For far too long, Successive Liberal and Conservative governments have focused on what they can take from Labrador while ignoring the people who actually live here and make this province run.

Enough is enough.

Today, NL NDP Leader Jim Dinn made a commitment to all Newfoundlanders and Labradrorians: an NL NDP government would end the decades of backroom politics and insider influence by banning all corporate and union donations.

Over the past 4 years, the waitlist for NLHC units has risen to approximately 2500. That is 2500 too many.

An NDP Government will come to the table ready to tackle the problem, taking bold action to build 1000 housing units across the province that are both affordable and accessible. Every year.

Thank you to my family, supporters, volunteers, and fellow New Democrats for coming out to my campaign launch this afternoon.

I have had the absolute privilege of representing the district of St. John’s Centre since 2019 working hard to ensure that constituents’ needs are heard.

We all have a story about where we were on September 11, 2001. Here in Newfoundland and Labrador, our story is one of compassion, resilience, and community.

Today, we remember the lives lost and honour the contributions of our province in the face of tragedy.

Thank you to the many teachers, support staff, parents, and volunteers who make our schools successful and who continue to be forces of positive change in the lives of our students.

Welcome back, and I wish you a safe and successful school year.
jimdinn.bsky.social
I also know that the same concern, community spirit, and resiliency that unites us in supporting affected communities will help us meet those challenges head on.

As in previous years, keep safe, look after each other, and be patient with each other and ourselves.
