I do, of course, delight in all the lovely aurora pictures I'm seeing on my timeline today, but why oh why oh why is it always cloudy where I am when auroras are forecast to be visible in southern England.

Until a decade or so ago I had not realised that democracies were so vulnerable to being taken over by enemy countries. All they need do is to get their proxies to win elections.
I think that's a hard problem to fix.

#bbcpm Starmer's excessive appeasement of Trump is looking more ill-advised every day.

Is there anything more pointless than "punishing" someone for "plotting" to leave the Tory party by throwing them out of the Tory party?

#bbcpm In the first episode of HHGTTG Ford buys six pints of beer for under a fiver. And the barman is delighted when told to keep the change.

BBC News studiously avoiding mentioning that ICE have been detaining (and "disappearing") American citizens. It's not about immigration, it's about race.

#bbcpm I didn't think our "special relationship" with the USA extended to participating in their criminal enterprises.

They saw the prices and didn't want to get fleeced.
50 runaway sheep ram-paged through a German supermarket in rural Baa-varia, causing shear mania on Monday morning.

After breaking away from their 500-strong herd, the brazen sheep spent 20 minutes milling around in the Penny supermarket before ewe-turning and seeing themselves out.

#bbcpm Pensioners' free bus passes are no use for getting to work unless you have a very late start every day.

And means testing them would cost more than it saves.

Making public transport free for everyone is the solution.

#bbcpm Given Trump's incoherence and volatility, how can anyone say what policies his supporters voted for?

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Had a Belgian wine (brought back on our last holiday) with lunch. It was better than you might expect. I wonder which new (to me) country I'll encounter next.

As usual at this time of year I don't recognise any of the BBC radio continuity announcers or many of the programme presenters. All the regulars are on holiday.

Have you noticed how companies that use Yodel or Evri don't reveal that until you've placed your order? I wonder why that is...

Transcribing interview with a great Parkinson’s scientist - love his advice to young researchers:
“Pick your area, stick with it, and accept that at some point in your life it will be flavour of the month, and at some point in your career, it will be ’I can't believe you're still working on that’”
