A9 I am helping my school librarian add more mathy books to our collection. He created a special section for them in our library so they are easy to find. Thanks for more great tips! #ElemMathChat

A4 Kindergarten students at my school use "loose parts" such as glass beads to form letters of their heart words. They could also count the number of items in each letter or word. #ElemMathChat

A2 I notice numbers, letters and words. This looks like fun! 26 Letters of the Alphabet? 100 cents in a Dollar? How about 100 W to lose your L? Paul Simon reference 😆 #ElemMathChat

I’m inspired to survey the families who attend my math workshops this year - in the past my teachers have surveyed the kids about their attitudes about math and their growth mindset. #elemmathchat

Just wondering, is subitizing:math as phonemic or phonological awareness:reading? Or is that way too simplistic? #ElemMathChat #ITeachMath #MTBOS

A6 At my school we don't have workstations per se but have a slew of extra activities that complement the core lessons such as games. Our 4th graders have fallen in love with Numeroso and most of our grades love Struggly. #ElemMathChat

A5 Teachers need to model use of grade appropriate math vocabulary - I love a math word wall or anchor charts that include it. We can notice and name when kids use it appropriately. #ElemMathChat
