Twenty three years ago today, Space Shuttle Columbia was lost when the vehicle broke up during reentry. The crew perished, including Indian-American astronaut Dr. Kalapana Chawla. I contributed to a low temperature physics experiment that flew with her on Columbia in late 1997.

The Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser was developed by the AMT model kit company in exchange for the rights to sell it along with their Enterprise model. They hired Matt Jefferies to design it. Two master tooling models were made, one if which is now at the Smithsonian. #TOSSatNight
