Taking a little break from all this. Going to re-emerge when I’ve actually written something worthwhile.
Exactly. They are indeed acceptable, if archaic. What is “correct” is only what’s accepted by the majority, and this is decided by usage, which is why some spellings die out and others don’t.
Exactly. Usage changed it. Jane Austen wrote “connection” as “connexion “. Usage changed it.
“I’m not doing that anymore” / “Would you like any more tea?” Usage.
I’m a descriptive rather than a prescriptive grammarian. Usage is usage.
But “anymore” and “any more” mean two different things!
Fair enough. I’ve only seen good reviews, mind, but both opinions are valid.
I see what you’re saying; I think it showed us how it doesn’t matter how rich our lives are: there are still people in charge who may wipe that away on a whim.
Ah, but I think it did provoke a conversation about the film succeeding in asking how we think we should handle a modern day nuclear war. Films are better when they raise questions rather than provide glib or lecturing answers.
I felt the opposite actually. There was no ending that could satisfy that build up. Either possible ending would have felt like a cop-out unless you make the aftermath the focus of the movie, which it wasn’t. I felt it was meant to provoke this sort of conversation.

It’s almost like there’s a difference between the actions of a country’s government and its citizens. I don’t know why so many people won’t see that.
It seems to be on everything in the uk. Paramount Plus, Netflix and 2 or 3 different Sky TV channels.
Not even teenagers. The 2005 reboot worked because it aimed at 9-12 year olds with appropriate spinoffs and merchandise. It will always attract adult fans whatever.
So, now that #doctorwho is definitely returning, I’m calling out for the fellas behind Inside No.9 to take over as main writers and showrunners, along with a proper script editor.
I’m unreasonably irritated by Americans saying “tidbit” when the word is “titbit”. But then theirs is closer to the original, which makes it even more irritating. I said it was unreasonable.
That’s because it’s TARDISes.
That’s not ALL of it though, just the last 20 years. Enjoy. I’m part way through an actual rewatch of all of it - up to season 9 with Pertwee.
Probably. ITV have got form for burying US imports in the schedule as fillers and then dropping them.
Could be interesting. Black Hole is one of those books that are partly about the form itself, so it’d be interesting to see what they do with that.
It’s great but the previous two albums are better.
Pickled onions are different things from a pickle and an onion. Ah, ketchup flavour crisps. I remember them well, but not seen them in about 40 years. Worcester Sauce crisps are still available though, and pickled onion Monster Munch.
Oh it is. Career best performances from everyone.
