It just shows that so much that we think matters now just won’t in the future. All things pass. For every Dickens, Shakespeare, Austen, Christie that the future remembers, there are thousands that won’t be, no matter how important they are now. Only the future will decide.

It was a journey! Much of it was fictionalised but most of what happens is broadly true. I didn’t know he existed until a few years ago. Research led to the book. I think I’ve honoured him and others, whilst keen to show it’s a novel, not history. My big Welsh extended family were very supportive.

Sure. It’s called ‘A Hundred Years to Arras’. It’s a literary novel set in WW1 France, partly based on a relative who fought at the Battle of Arras in 1917. The re-release will have a new cover, but this is the previous edition.

Firstly, congratulations. It looks great. I’ll check it out. Secondly, worth adding that just as many authors don’t get an advance at all but we keep going! My first novel gets re-released with a new publisher next April!

My absolute favourite film. I watch it at least once a year.

I have considered it, thanks, and it takes it too far away from the text for me. We are meant to see the creature driven to extreme acts yet still empathise because he is intellectual and crying out for a meaning to his existence. I didn’t see that in this film.

If it’s your favourite book, don’t you think it loses something by: Elizabeth not being Victor’s fiancée and not being killed by the creature on their wedding night; Victor’s brother not being a child murdered by the creature; the strange sunrise ending instead of the book’s ending?many odd changes.

Grounds for divorce, I’d say.
