Delta Airlines reportedly wants to use AI to set individualized ticket prices for passengers.

It's the latest company to embrace a shady tactic called "surveillance pricing" that weaponizes your personal data.

Should corporations be able to weaponize your personal data to rip you off? Well, they may already be doing that thanks

One of the most important advances in #climate science is the ability now to "fingerprint" extreme events (floods/heat waves/drought) and identify the role climate change plays.
This advance is also causing conniptions among climate deniers now shown evidence of the real-world impacts of denial.

"ICE is arresting people based on accent" is an absolutely wild sentence to read
BREAKING: Judge rules that during its large-scale enforcement operation in LA, DHS/ICE has been arresting people without probable cause -- based on factors like accent and line of work.

ICE allows its agents to conduct operations in plain clothes and to cover their faces. Social media is flooded with images of masked men forcing people into unmarked cars. This approach looks scary. It is scary. And it’s a grave mistake.

I want to add a small but suggestive experience to this. In a recent piece I did for @newyorker.com about ICE arrests of Democratic officials and lawmakers, we got a comment from the White House, in which a spokesperson said that the magazine was “encouraging lawless behavior” by reporting on it.

I almost can't believe that Elon Musk's AI called for the extermination of the Jewish people yesterday, and today not a single Congressional Democrat announced they were leaving his media network.

A party that often claims to act against antisemitism didn't do jack shit about straight up Nazism.

The National Weather Service did its job in Texas, with advanced warnings even in the middle of the night.
If officials want better warnings, Congress and Trump shouldn't be dismantling NOAA, weather and climate research, and new models, monitoring, and technology.
