Just wanted to wish everyone on here a very #HappyNewYear! Thought I’d leave a little thread of just some of the projects I’ve undertaken to help #wildlife in 2024. Here’s to much more habitat creation, everywhere, in #2025 💚

My latest mini wetland project is coming along nicely in #Lancashire. 4 of 5 scrapes now complete and today I started excavating the main wildlife pond. Fingers crossed for a few dry days!

Always a good day when you see your first skein of Pink-footed geese for the year! Especially when it’s over your house! 😍👌❤️ #PinkFootedGeese

Scrape 2 of 5 now complete on my latest mini wetland project in #Lancashire. These mini scrapes are designed to provide a feeding ground for wading birds such as Curlew, Oystercatcher, Snipe & Lapwing and will sit alongside wildlife pond number 6 - a larger, lined water body.
Loving my new @leicamicrosystems.bsky.social level. This piece of kit will be pivotal in the creation of many wildlife habitats for many years to come, including my latest project - a new wetland including a 20m x 10m #wildlifepond with 5 x adjacent scrapes for wading birds in #Lancashire.
Amazed to not only see a new species of butterfly that I’ve only previously seen abroad, but also to record it less than a mile from my house, and to top it off, an even rarer variant call “Helice.” Ladies & gentlemen, I give you the Clouded Yellow…! 😍🦋
Share if you love dogs. This is one of my 6 - Frank - A 3.5 y/o GSD/Belgian Mali cross, rescued from spending 23 hours a day in a concrete shed. He was beaten & abused. An absolute goof & I love him to bits. As humans, we don’t deserve dogs. They’re the best friend you’ll ever have ❤️🐺
Just a Red Admiral doing its thing…😍🦋
I think I’m going to need more cabbages! 😆👍 #Butterflies #WildlifeGarden

Huge thanks to everyone that came to visit my mini #wildlifegarden over the weekend @GlobalBirdfair. Met some amazing people & am now planning future projects for wildlife. Thanks also to all the amazing volunteers that make this yearly event the best of its kind ❤️

Half car park, half lawn, stony ground & on a slope…this should be interesting! 😆 #WildlifePond #Northumberland
After what feels like a small age of seeing very few of one of my favourite #butterflies for the last couple of years, it’s an absolute delight to see the stunning Ringlet in good numbers in this #meadow, where I’m creating my latest #WildlifePond in #Hampshire 🦋

Well, that’s a first for me today! 😳 3 x heavily gravid female Adders under one piece of refugia, that is used to monitor this magnificent species, on a site that I’m currently making a #wildlifepond on 😍❤️🐍
They’re not currently residing at the end of the field where I’m creating the wildlife pond. There is plenty of habitat for them on the site.

Thanks so much Ian. Yes, I had to bite my lip a few times, but I knew that getting angry wouldn’t solve anything. Thanks for the support - full video coming to YouTube soon about the next steps and some inform for anyone going through similar 😊👍

A few years ago I planted Ragwort, knowing it would benefit Solitary Bees, and the likes of Gatekeeper Butterflies that visit. I wasnt sure if I'd ever attact a Cinnabar Moth, as I only see them along the coast where I live. but I like to dream... #NatureGarden #MothSquad @joelashton.bsky.social
