Rumour has it that the US has lifted the ban on Ukraine striking targets in Russia. This will make a big difference if Ukraine can target the supply chain of forward units

Very interesting article from WSJ about the race in the Arctic and how Russia and China are advancing their positions. In 2018, China declared itself a near-Arctic country

The Vezhen that has been seized by Swedish authorities was released yesterday. Apparently, video footage from the foredeck showed a large wave sweeping over the ship as it passed out of the Gulf of Finland.

Very interesting video about the Swedish army divers. Gives you a very good insight into how to set up temporary bridges. One can understand that water is a major obstacle for any army in the move. I believe English subtitles are available

Very interesting video about anchors on commercial ships. Anyone who has been to sea knows that it is extremely rare for the anchor to be accidentally thrown or dropped.

The Vezhen was boarded by the 🇸🇪 Police national task force with military helicopters before the coastguard entered the ship. Exactly where the boarding took place is not known. But probably some where south of the island Öland. The 🇸🇪police published this picture, note the 🐶 (1/2)

(1/2) The 🇸🇪 Coast Guard is a police authority, unlike some other countries where it is part of the military. This means that they carry out police activities at sea, most often boarding ships for inspection. But in special cases, it enlists the help of the police task force youtu.be/HGBXDrCoSoQ?...

The Vezhen is anchored outside Karlskrona, the home port of the Swedish Navy (like Portsmouth or Norfolk). This area was heavily militarised during the Cold War and foreigners were not allowed in many places. It is also very close to where a Russian submarine ran aground in the 80s

The ship Vezhen, suspected of damaging the underwater cable in the Baltic Sea, is a relatively newly built vessel launched in 2022. She has six sister ships built during the same period.

It seems that #Ukraine is using electronic warfare to a greater extent than before. The lack of electronic warfare at the beginning of the war by the Russians has been somewhat surprising

Sending HDMS Absalon to the area could be a clear signal that they will not let YP3 sail anywhere, as Absalon could be there for ages

The YP3 is still in it’s current position. There have been some replacements of surveillance ships where 🇸🇪KBV001 has returned to its home port and 🇩🇰 command ship HDMS Absalon has entered the scene.

Zelensky stated in a twitter post that Ukraine has lost ~43.000 KIA and ~370.000 wounded. It’s 5-1 ratio 🇷🇺vs 🇺🇦and it also shows that “Schwarzkopf rule” applies when attacking a well fortified enemy. #Ukraine #Russia
December 8, 2024 at 1:35 PM
The Economist published an article regarding 🇺🇦 losses. I would argue that neither 🇷🇺 or 🇺🇦 knows for sure how many casualties there are. If we use the 3-1 rule (attacker vs defense) it’s likely that 🇷🇺 losses are at least 3 times higher than #Ukraine Probably 5-1 if defense is well fortified

According to Swedish newspaper GP the YP3 did suspicious manoeuvres on its way in to the Baltic Sea on the 7th of November.
It kept right over cables that run between Sweden and Denmark. Apparently, these cables are buried so they may be more difficult to destroy.
