I drive on Cedar Avenue every single day. It has been surreal and gratifying to drive past these filter blockades, along with seeing the usual protesters on street corners. I feel hope every time I see them. Our community is not backing down. There's nowhere I would rather live. ❤️
Some in South Minneapolis have created what they call “filter blockades” on Cedar Ave. A handout says the roundabout like blockade is meant to bring neighbors together to strategize against ICE while also identifying traffic coming into the area.

I cannot stress enough to people who are not from Minneapolis that the news you have seen in the past week about things calming, and messaging from our electeds at *every level higher than City Council* that local agencies will protect us... That's all fucking LIES.
Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt needs to stop assisting ICE. It’s very clear that the sheriff’s department has been harassing, intimidating, arresting and coming out in force to assist ICE. They have been using force against neighbors who are working to protect our immigrant neighbors. 2/
