Well, I best be rested for the horrors of tomorrow.

It makes me sad how many people I know who are reimagining themselves as "AI Gurus."

Like, remember when you used to create stuff?

Homer Simpson famously struggled to locate the "Any" key on his keyboard.

But riddle me this: how do you press the F24 key? 🤔

An @elgato.com Stream Deck helps.

"Google Podcasts failed because it was TOO GOOD" is an interesting take.

I think it failed because YouTube had other branding and strategic goals.

But it was also a pretty awful app to use. Limited feature set. And it would take 3 days for podcast episodes to hit the app for some reason.

In the old days of Feudal Japan, a samurai warrior would shout, “You are trying to view Flash content, but you have no Flash plugin installed.”

I cannot overstate how many freaking ads there are in an iHeart podcast. They're practically unlistenable.

Did you know you can add animated GIFs to your OBS Studio scenes with the Image source?

Michael.
David.
What do you know about reactionary centrism?
All I know is whatever it is, both sides are to blame for it.
🤣
Today on Volts: I'm joined by the great @michaelhobbes.bsky.social to discuss "reactionary centrism," an intellectual tendency that's come to dominate US public life. You know the type: would never view themselves as conservative, yet finds voluntary pronoun use vastly more aggravating than fascism.
All about "reactionary centrism"
Michael Hobbes joins me to diagnose the pundit class's obsession with scolding the left while the right burns down the house.

I hadn't actually had the classic Australian Summer experience of “not being able to handle the car steering wheel because it feels like it's on fire” in a while.

I was trying to watch a tutorial and the speaker had so much reverb on his voice and I'm thinking, "Was that an intentional choice?"

And, anyway, then I saw the Blue Yeti on the desk.

Periodic reminder to try to find some peace in this chaotic world. Rest. Take time to smell the flowers, or, perhaps, admire the bushland.

Beenie lost the sunset, but that's okay.

I really don't want to mean to Liza Minnelli (whom I'm genuinely fond of), especially not a 79 year old Liza who is dealing with aging and medical conditions.

But AI music and photoshopping your likeness is not a great way to treat your creative legacy.

Complete brain rot, but someone remixed The Human League's “Don't You Want Me” so the entire song is about working as a waitress in a cocktail bar. 😂

Just about to sleep, but looking forward to listening to this tomorrow. Low key hoping the zinger is something like, “American Canto? More like ‘American Panto’!”

It's not that your AI generated video thumbnail looks bad, it's just that they're literally unreal. The most uncanny of all the valleys.

"Chains" is a R & B song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. It was a hit for the American girl group the Cookies in 1962, which inspired @thebeatles to record the song for their debut album in 1963.

Seeing a lot of "I'm above politics" / "both parties are bad!" Americans try to reckon with the current moment. There's a lot of nervous twitching, which I guess might be progress.

Every day I seem to find new things to appreciate about Australia.

But, let's be very clear, the summer heat is not one of them. 😝

It's really hot in Australia.
I'm just doing what I can.
