Wasn't the Lansdowne 2.1 (what is now called Lansdowne 2.0) proposal released on the Friday of a Thanksgiving weekend - and fast tracked to a council approval in two months or so? Engage Ottawa working late yesterday indeed.

Perhaps getting rid of photo radar altogether is Ford's solution to cabinet ministers getting fined?

You've got to be kidding...

Multiple vehicles assigned to Ontario cabinet ministers have been slapped with over $3,300 in speeding-related fines -- many of them caught on automated speed cameras. Average: 17 km/h over the limit.

This is all @isaaccallan.bsky.social & his FOI skills.

And from Ontario's Sports Minister on the Lansdowne 2.0 debacle, “We’ve talked about it,” Neil Lumsden is quoted as saying. “It’s a fantastic idea.” Sports facilities before critical municipal infrastructure from the Sports Minister indeed.

Looking at the Sir Robert Borden and the elementary school scenario here, do we still believe safety is the prime reason for the cameras? The trick in my neighborhood is a big 50 km/hr sign with a much smaller easy to miss 40 km/hr school zone sign right after.

Speed Cameras: Revenue Over Safety: BENN - THE BULLDOG

"Highly selective messaging. There is no affordable 🏠at #Lansdowne. It will be luxury units. And then the Mayor rolls out his go-to message: "it costs taxpayers much less than doing nothing." This is false as the City's own Auditor General shows."

This is an interesting take on next year's mayoral race here in Ottawa. Different positions on the deeply flawed Lansdowne 2.0 could make the coming council vote interesting.

We're getting closer to making the right decision. Why indeed is the mayor pushing a half billion dollar expense for smaller facilities with a business model that looks a lot like the money losing Lansdowne 1.0.

Sports teams do almost nothing for cities—so why do we waste millions on stadiums?

This is an older article, but worth a read. Is there any guarantee that the Red Blacks will still be around to fill the new smaller north stands?

A Quote from today's Globe and Mail article, "How to breathe new life into Ottawa's ailing core,"

"Ottawa is too big and should be broken up into urban and rural municipalities."

The concept of de-amalgamation has an interesting ring to it to me.

Look at this graph.

The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened.

This is why we must build back union power.
