Great to see #lufc old boy Terry Cooper in the Big Match Revisited this morning, playing for Boro in 1976. And for commentator Brian Moore reminding us how back in the 70s Greame Souness’s name was often pronounced ‘Souness’ and not ‘Souness’ as it is today

180 Studios at 180 Strand is an expansive subterranean bunker with many interconnected rooms radiating a block buster Blake’s 7 set, perfect for large art installations seeking an outsider feel. Currently showing a retrospective on how eccentric Video Art has grown from the 70s. Trust me, it’s good

Hurrah night club ad displaying the cancellation of Joy Division’s gig in May 1980. This show was rescheduled to September for a three piece New Order set, filmed by Merrill Aldighieri. Can’t say I’ve heard of any other band in this ad!

Just the 45 years then, for this debut screening of A Certain Ratio live at Hurrah in NYC (1980). The recording is through a single lens which zooms and pans the viewer into a previous life. The life of a fledgling band who through their own admission were still learning their instruments.

The instruments belonging to the late Florian Schneider of #Kraftwerk went up for auction recently. Fancy a vocoder? Here you go, yours for a reasonable $256k.

A gaffer here proudly receiving the old 4th division manager of the year award, but who’s his famous son?

#lufc What has always fascinated me about Salonica 73 is the referee Christos Michas’ involvement with the early stage of the tournament. In October 1972 Michas took charge of a 2nd round tie in Poland, the game between Legia Warsaw and….. you guessed it, AC Milan

Fulham’s three AFCON players are all Nigerian 🇳🇬 and likely to have returned to the PL when #lufc face them on the 17th. Need Nigeria to have reached the SF for those three to remain exiled until then

Brentford have won four of their last five home games, only City took anything. Scored three in all those wins. Only Chelsea, City and now #lufc have come away with a result this season. Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle and Man U all lost here.

Legend goes that the Lotus Eaters stole the chorus of this song to form the basis of the sublime ‘Last Picture of You’. So says the guy who wrote it, Paul Simpson. And yes, you can hear it.
