Just played the Tucker’s Luck section. Loved it, in particular a great analysis of the scary skin Passmore. You’re right, the late Peter McNamara did have a short cameo in Grange Hill. He played a respectable VI former and had a brief scene with Trisha Yates and Cathy Hargreaves
Was trying to remember what your third night out was! Good ol Gedge 🎸
“Leeds: gosh Leeds. Why do we never talk of Leeds?”
Yay. Priceless. The right column at the right time. And a gleefully English two fingers to the haters.
And ironically the one Sheffield group who could not be accused of verging on cabaret…..
That’s the other end of Sheffield’s electronica spectrum to Cabs. Used the tech to move in a very pop direction, all sweeping strings and digital drum patterns. Also good, just different. No sign of Martin Fry last night!
Chris Watson last performed with Cabs in 1981 and Mallinder in 1994.
Here they are playing their 1979 single ‘Nag Nag Nag’ in Sheffield, 2025
Cabaret Voltaire 50th (!) anniversary gig at the Forge Warehouse in Sheffield last night. Amongst the appreciative audience of bald men with large dark-framed glasses was Phil Oakey (bald but no glasses) looking very good for his 70 years. Pic of him leaving the venue below

Yeah the timing of these things can be very precarious. I was back at the station when their goal went in
This has made me feel a lot better about leaving my seat on 80 minutes. Had to get a 22.30 train to Sheffield. All that bleeding first half injury time screwed me
It pops up on fb message boards even now
Our away form is already making me a little jumpy. Hopefully we can take at least a draw from Forest
Jocks are still critical of Bill’s role in Scotland not pushing for more goals v Zaire, but this piece was clearly written before then.

#lufc Keeping our head above the point-a-game waterline but have already faced five of the bottom six. Eight of our remaining 10 fixtures in 2025 see us take on sides higher than us in the table. Will be nine if Brentford take a point today. Need to use what we’ve learnt and pick things up
