That's the biggest goldfish I've ever seen!

(Yes I know it's a koi).

Two new birds to the life list yesterday - including a couple of these handsome black crowned night herons. Not exactly in a natural setting as they were busy stealing bread that was being fed to the koi in a park 😂

Taiwan is famous for it's tea, but also has a thriving specialty coffee scene. High quality coffee is grown and processed in areas that produce quality high mountain tea. That quality supports many specialty coffee shops with great single origin bean choices.

Although a polarizing figure in Taiwan's history, there is no doubt that the memorial hall and grounds dedicated to Chiang Kai Shek are impressive in scale and grandeur.

How do these people, especially someone who is a self proclaimed tech executive, fall for this stuff!? Seriously, who sends a quarter of a million bucks to a crypto account because some 'nice lady' says its a good investment 🤯🤯

Just a few days in Taiwan, already we have noticed a really big difference between the people here versus the South Koreans (at least with Seoul that is). This is all our personal experience so don't take any offence.

We have found the Taiwanese to be very friendly, warm, and really helpful

I don't disagree with national parks etc having higher fees for foreigners as locals pay tfor upkeep hrough taxes, but wow, $100 per person on top of the existing entry fee for some of the main parks is pretty steep! International tourism to USA will keep shrinking.

We arrived into Taipei, Taiwan this evening. It's a new country for us, so that's pretty exciting!!

Straightaway we felt an improvement over South Korea - we could freely use Google Maps!! Believe it or not, Google Maps in South Korea is not quite the Google Maps you know!

Our last coffee shop in Seoul was one of the best. The layout was great allowing views across the road to Gyeongbokgung Palace and a busy street to people watch. Coffee was excellent too!

New Zealand is on a mission to eradicate feral cats.

A great mission - but there needs to parallel legislation to enforce registration of cats and having them desexed.

Well that's a first, and an annoying one at that. Our flight from Seoul to Taipei is delayed, but instead of allowing us to check-in and go to the lounge or whatever, we have to wait in the check-in queue for the next (at least) 1.5 hours!! Stupid.

An interesting observation in Seoul about cars. There are of course a majority of Korean cars on the road, Hyundai and Kia dominate. Next comes the German brands. So many Mercs, BMW, Audi and Porsche. The surprise is the lack of Japanese cars - I saw 1 Lexus and 1 Toyota in 2 weeks!
