Oh gosh how terrible, & annoying! Hopefully insurance is sufficient for them…
Very glad ours is a rental & we have the flat to stay in. We’ll know next week what remedial work is needed - water damage under whole of the kitchen may require a new floor & maybe new units - yikes!!

It was the one under our kitchen units, and it was a curved plastic pipe - probably just wear and tear. But crazy to think that the water feeding two other houses goes underneath our house.

Yup to both! We discovered that the stopcock in the street is for our house + two houses up the hill - the water pipes for their houses go under our house!! Worth bearing in mind if we buy a terraced Victorian house... (er, avoid!)

Thanks Andy - just got home & the leak at least has been found & stopped. Hubby rented a vacuum to suck out the water from the carpet & a dehumidifier for a week, so hopefully that'll help. Whole concrete base of kitchen was waterlogged so who knows what long-term plan is. Thank god it's a rental...
