NEON's No Other Choice grossed an estimated $991K this weekend from 45 locations, for a per-location average of $22,028. Estimated total domestic gross stands at $1.98M.
If Marty Supreme legs out similarly to A Complete Unknown last year, it should end up becoming A24's first $100M+ grosser in America, and one of the only non-IP films without any fantasy/horror elements to reach the century mark this decade.
A24's Marty Supreme grossed an estimated $12.55M this weekend (from 2,887 locations), which was a 29% decrease from last weekend. Estimated total domestic gross stands at $56.00M.

The Nat'l Society of Film Critics names Ethan Hawke the Best Actor of 2025 for his performance as Lorenz Hart in "Blue Moon." Runners-up: Wagner Moura ("The Secret Agent" and Michael B. Jordan ("Sinners"). #NSFC@nsfc.bsky.social

Hawke is now only the fifth actor to win Best Actor multiple times at NSFC, after Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Steve Martin, and Daniel Day-Lewis.
Kinda crazy that Hollywood just forgot for several years that "adapt an easy-read bestseller = $$$" and, between this and the Colleen Hoover adaptations, is slowly starting to remember that (granted, a lot of blame can probably go to streamers for picking up books for limited series adaptations).
Lionsgate & Hidden Pictures' The Housemaid grossed an estimated $5.25M on Friday (from 3,070 locations), which was a 0.3% increase from the previous Friday. Estimated total domestic gross stands at $66.11M.

Movie date idea: go to see a new foreign/independent film, make an over/under bet on how may production company logos there will be at the beginning, loser pays for dinner afterwards

I think Adam Sandler is a Good Actor, but I’m always a little baffled by just how effusive the praise for some of his performances can get. Feels like something I missed by never getting into him as a kid.

Second biggest opening weekend ever for A24, behind only Civil War. With holiday legs and the eventual awards bump it should easily pass Everything Everywhere All at Once's $77.2M total to become their biggest domestic hit ever; the only question is how much higher it can go.

The local Lite Rock radio station that becomes a holiday music station in Nov/Dec has been using anti-AI bumpers like “AI has never roasted chestnuts on an open fire” while also calling the station “Guaranteed Human.” Feels telling about where the general consensus on AI is starting to land.

With these kind of headwinds, we're on track for a weekend with at least six different movies making $10M+ (for the first since I think 2020?), maybe even seven if Song Sung Blue can hold well enough (for the first since I think 2015?).

Second biggest opening day ever for A24, behind only Civil War. Also comes in $2.2M ahead of A Complete Unknown’s Xmas opening last year, and $3.6M ahead of Uncut Gems’ Xmas opening six years ago.
A24's Marty Supreme grossed $9.54M on Christmas Day Thursday (from 2,668 locations), including Wednesday previews. Total domestic gross stands at $10.77M.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Marty Supreme is one of the most incredible "damn they've still got it" performances in recent memory, pretty easily her best work since...man, Two Lovers? Maybe even Royal Tenenbaums?

Marty Supreme scored a B+ CinemaScore, only the fifth A24 wide release to ever score that high (Iron Claw and Warfare scored A-‘s, Talk to Me and Bring Her Back scored B+’s), and particularly impressive for an abrasive Xmas Day release (Uncut Gems scored a C+ six Xmases ago).
