For centuries, yes, but those centuries included 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. The EU was created as a new peace project after 1945, and Britain thrived inside it. We’re not thriving outside.

I wonder how many of those angrily protesting outside asylum hotels would be willing to put their names to a promise never to claim refugee status themselves, if, heaven forbid, they were suddenly forced to flee the UK because of war or tragedy here.

Yes, even if we’d stayed in the EU, we’d still have food inflation. But not as much food inflation if we hadn’t done Brexit. The UK imports almost 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱, and the majority of that comes from EU countries like Ireland, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Germany.
