⚠️ Did you know the Government is considering exempting all development sites under 0.5 hectares from the Biodiversity Net Gain system?

Find out why we're calling for a 0.1 hectare threshold: https://freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/news/small-sites-must-not-be-excluded-from-biodiversity-net-gain/

Recently I revisited a 1/2 acre site to carry out the annual hay cut, where two years ago, I created a wildflower meadow & wildlife pond from a piece of mown grass. It’s now a thriving habitat that’s full of invertebrates, mammals, amphibians and many bird species. #NoMowSummer

⚠️ Small sites form the backbone of our housing construction pipeline. Minor developments have major cumulative impacts both for nature and urban communities. The evidence shows exemptions would seriously damage nature recovery. PTES urges the government to retain BNG requirements for small sites.

🚨 CODE RED FOR NATURE 🚨

We are worried that Gov will weaken Biodiversity Net Gain — or remove small sites entirely!

Gutting BNG would:
❌ collapse investment
❌ stall nature recovery
❌ send a catastrophic signal to markets

This cannot happen.

🚨Hoylake beach update🚨

After a LONG six years, we’re finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!! An agreement has finally been reached between @NaturalEngland and @WirralCouncil which means around 2% of the 41ha of vegetated foreshore at Hoylake will be cleared.

A jumper in a jumper!

This fantastic frog was crocheted by one of Hampton Nature Reserve's volunteers, Abby, for our Reserve Warden Clare.

She is smitten!

Since I became an MP I’ve been pushing for river-friendly farming to protect our waterways.

Farmers want to be part of the solution, but govt must support them: invest in nature-friendly farming, properly fund the Envt Agency, and create more Water Protection Zones to truly tackle pollution.

Some key facts on *un*sustainable aviation fuel.

⛔️80% of UK’s waste oil would only power 0.6% of its flights

⛔️Using synthetic e-fuel for all USA domestic flights would use 85% of USA’s electricity generated.

⛔️Powering UK flights on plant-based biofuels would use >50% of its agricultural land
