We have 19 horses, mini horses, ponies, and donkeys, most of them seniors with complex chronic health issues such as Cushing's and the longterm effects of serious neglect and abuse. It is very hard and very expensive, but these beautiful souls deserve the chance to age with health and happiness.

It's hard to get a photo of Bernadette's adorable face because she always has her snout down looking for snacks. Let everyone see how pretty you are, Bernie!

Our new senior minis, Wesley and Clementine, are doing great! They seem very happy in the private stall and outdoor area we created for them. They can safely go in and out all they want without passing by other residents who might frighten Clementine (since she is blind). 💕

Our new pigs, Agnes and Gus, are doing great! They were under-socialized and a bit wild from being isolated without adequate food, water, or human contact, but they are gradually learning that they are safe now and that food and water will always be here for them no matter what. ❤️

Wesley and Clementine on this bright, very cold day! Today is supposed to be the end of this cold snap and the rest of the week looks like more normal winter temps in the 20s and 30s. We're all looking forward to it! 🥶

The geese from last month’s emergency rescue are doing well! We are not sure what we’re going to do with them, to be honest. We’re not set up to keep them permanently, but they would have died if we had not taken them from the homestead where they were found.

Our friend the Hispaniolan Armored Toad was first described in 2018 and is only known from a single location in the Dominican Republic! Their skin is very rough and bumpy, and they have prominent armored ridges on their head, giving them their name! (photo by Judá Isaí Martínez Uribe)
