so very tempting… the FutureRetro 777 is returning! AND the earlybird price is the same that I paid when I bought mine in the ‘90s ($777) …while I do miss my FR-777, I am going to need to pass :( but this is a truly great synth and for so many reasons I highly recommend getting one.

My preorders for Storm and WeaponX Wolvie arrived yesterday just fine 🤷‍♂️

But it reminds me that some years ago I bought the “From Z to A” Twin Peaks box set and while I’ve seen the originals many times, I only ever saw the final season as it aired …maybe it’s finally time for me to watch it in its entirety ☕️ 🥧

After tucking my daughter in and putting on her favorite bedtime album (Floating Into The Night by Julee Cruise), I later decided it’d be nice to hear the Fire Walk With Me soundtrack as I was winding down - so seeing this as the first post when I opened the app earlier felt a little surreal

So last night I was reading an email announcement for a tour I wouldn’t be able to attend (Dead Voices On Air) when I discovered that this was a place, and its existence makes me happy. I hope to visit whenever I next return to Chicago.

Written 55 years ago, Schulz's heartfelt clarity cuts through the noise, even today.

Scan of a typed letter from 1970, from Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, addressed to "Joel Lipton, 622 N. Foothill Road, Beverly Hills, Calif. 90210"

It reads:

"Dear Joel:

I think it is more difficult these days to define what makes a good citizen than it has ever been before. Certainly all any of us can do is follow our own conscience and retain faith in our democracy. Sometimes it is the very people who cry out the loudest in favor of getting back to what they call "American Virtues" who lack this faith in our country.

I believe that our greatest strength lies always in the protection of our smallest minorities.

Sincerely yours,

Charles M. Schulz"

Anyway, this is great. Along with the collected strips it includes plenty of original artwork, background info, marketing/product stuff… Chip Kidd knows how to put a book together. Only What’s Necessary very well may be the “if you could only have one Peanuts book” (…especially for just $5)
josephservey.bsky.social
Because one can’t have too many Peanuts …probably 🤷‍♂️

This arrived tonight. It’s outstanding and for the moment you can buy a copy from the bad place for 79% off plus a coupon, making it only $5.01 —> a.co/d/h4ayC

There are many outstanding comics, several I could say are “perfect” but really, none can make that claim better than Peanuts. What Schulz achieved with this daily strip that ran for 40 YEARS is really one of the greatest stories ever told. I think Charlie Brown achieved his goal.
Violet says, “What do you want to be when you grow up, Charlie Brown?” Charlie Brown replies, “Perfect”

If you’d sometimes rather read about comics instead of just reading them, then this might be for you — From TCG and on to zines like Strangers, Yeah Dude Comics, Bubbles, Canon, etc… I love this sort of thing. I missed the first couple issues but thankfully they’re available as add-ons.

Sad to hear about the passing of the Michelangelo of Movie posters, RENATO CASARO. The Man painted so many iconic posters, specially in the 70s/80s: CONAN, TERMINATOR, DUNE, TOTAL RECALL, DANCE WITH THE WOLVES, BLOW OUT, FLASH GORDON, RAMBO, NEVER-ENDING STORY, and the list goes on and on. 1/2

Their feelings are very delicate

It’s so good. However, although I like Danheim and am a fan of music like Heilung and Wardruna, opening the game with a song telling of the Nordic creation myth seemed odd for an Arthurian story but after finishing the game, I get it. Perfect.

If Bethesda ever get around to releasing Elder Scrolls VI, they’re now not only following up their prior hit release but also Tainted Grail, which has definitely raised the bar.

Well done Awaken Realms, Tainted Grail the Fall of Avalon is a great game!

and I’m kinda sad that it’s over.
josephservey.bsky.social
Tainted Grail gets described as an “Indie Skyrim” meets Elden Ring (likely the next game I’ll play) and to think that a small team of maybe 10 people in Poland made a game that isn’t as expansive as Skyrim but yet plays better than the Elder Scrolls, a series by the software giant Bethesda…
josephservey.bsky.social
I think I was craving an immersive distraction after the election and so I decided to return to Skyrim. After 200+ hours, with the big bad dragon defeated and really only the civil war and some other bs quests remaining I found myself once again losing interest… then this released
josephservey.bsky.social
Years ago it was @noahtensionspan.bsky.social who convinced me to Skyrim, which was the first game I found myself really get into in a long while and which ended up being the last game I really played. Noah, consider this me returning the favor. Get this.
