It’s the first of its kind and we’re honored to be here. Going (nearly) back home to West Chester, PA in just over a week for the Fall Festival & Connect sponsored by Natural Lands. See Thirty West books in all our autumnal glory on Saturday 10/18 from 1-5.

In the span of a yawn, they pull in tens of thousands. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs like us will fawn over $100. Reject elite, embrace indie.

Radical idea: don’t buy books on Amazon when they have deals. Buy from indie bookstores & presses instead!

Facts. A lot of this is thankless, too, so insta-gratification fans beware

Different Thirty West
Two Thirty West tables. On the left is meager chapbooks and zines from 2018. On the right is a prominent display of many books.

Thirty West’s 2nd 10 Year Anniversary is going live at A Novel Idea on 11/22 from 5-7PM. We have local legends and TW favorites. It is BYOB, prizes, no cover, and local afterparty to follow the event. Celebrate indie press & small business for one memorable night.

Idk how hot of a take this is nor do I care:

Backlist books are just as relevant and worthy of purchase as a brand new book

We see Westies as our core readers: ambitious, kind, artsy, & know how to escape the mundane.

2025 has been tough.

Our 2025 catalog is nearly complete. If you sign up, you’ll literally get 4 books in one shipment at the end of October & 2 more in Feb.

Thirty West has had many versions of our logos/colophons throughout the years. Here’s a nice 10 year roundup on how our logo(s) have evolved over the years. Maybe there will be more in the future. Which one do you like most?

It’s interesting. Been seeing a lot of white & gray jackets in indie lit (myself included) but when I first learned about it, my professor advised not to produce white books due to proclivity of showing dirt/grime.

This month, instead of conservatively saving $ in this volatile market, we spent at least $400 to make new and better things for our festival tables and chapbook operations. You’ll see the fruit of our labors as early as 10/4

Chilly days are coming. Ghoulish nights are afoot. October’s Afterimages will have a rare 5-piece roster of primarily fiction, a memoir, and a book review. Just remember: you’re not seeing double (or a ghost) just simply quality literature. @tomsnarsky.bsky.social @hughbehmsteinberg.bsky.social

RIP Henry VIII you would’ve loved McDonalds apple pie
Portrait of Henry VIII. Notice the slippers upon his feet. A McDonald’s apple pie that looks a lot like Henry VIII’s slippers
