Welcome back BLUE BUCOLIC!

it’s not often we revise an existing title. Rebecca Kokitus’ 2nd chapbook has a revised cover, sharper images, and revised poems in this classic Thirty West chapbook from 2019. Sadly, no Schuylkill County coal rubbed pages, but this poetry is amazing.

Such a beautiful night celebrating the 10th anniversary of @thirtywestph.com! When I entered the indie lit world 5 years ago, Josh at Thirty West was 1 of the first people I saw as doing things the right way. He continues to inspire me to make Stanchion better for authors & readers.

Our final feature for tomorrow’s reading is Rebecca Kokitus. A classic chapbook author of ours, she’s coming out of poetry hiatus for you all. A Novel Idea hosted a few of her events in the past; a perfect circle moment. See you tomorrow from 5-7!

AI book club scams are going around. There’s nothing to gain from writers when the book sales aren’t even there. Is the goal to scam people and take their money for a promise? No reviews=no payment. Wild times.

Publishing confession: we had to turn down an endorsement deal because the traveling poet wanted us to buy a tailgate cover.

Our next feature on Saturday needs no introduction @anotherintro.bsky.social is one of the first book authors and we’re always stoked to listen to Jane-Rebecca’s prose. Only a few more sleeps… A Novel Idea will be ready for us!

A couple more days until you can see @saraheedmonds.bsky.social read from the cult classic LATE NIGHTS AT FULL MOON RECORDS and maybe some new poems at our 10 year anniversary reading. This Saturday from 5-7 at the South Philly home of books, A Novel Idea. We’re excited for you to join us!

Thirty West chapbook submissions are free. However, some people choose to tip us a few bucks, or even purchase a title. This photo is all of the purchases logged to date. With budgets tight and pennies (RIP) pinched, we can’t thank you enough for supporting a scrappy indie press of 10 years. 📚

It is an absolute travesty this didn’t pop off
Why are we still “defending” theses? When can we start “attacking” with paint brushes, stacks of manuscripts, etc?

Poetry chapbooks are clearly dominating our open call, but it’s so dope when fiction comes through. Whether a novelette, a couple long stories or flash, always impressed by the economy of language. Some nonfiction as well in lesser quantities. Keep em coming!
