On Monday we attend Imagination Unleashed a celebration of where Tech and Creativity collide.

Highlight, a talk from Sam Peak, director of #GrandTheftHamlet - hilarious, poignant and innovative. Totally inspiring!

It can sometimes feel like we are in a time of churn, the landscape of funding and the arts, still up in the air after over a decade of under investment in the sector -

But it makes such a difference having a local MP who really gets culture and is making it a priority.

Our pilot International Theatre Festival, created real connections & new work through month long residencies with Cornish & international artists.

Ukrainians’ Hooligan Art Community & Pearl Exchange’s piece, based on lived experiences, explored hooliganism, masculinity & community.

My grandad is 94 and still lives way up on Penwith Moors.

A a child it was a land full of stories, maids turned to stone & miners tunnelling deep under ground & even one about Jesus visiting Dong Dong! 😂

Boskednan Stone Circle is still one of my favourite spots for a pasty.

After our own international festival in September, I visited Sala Beckett in Barcelona.

Much of their approach to creating a modern theatre and residency space in a heritage building has inspired our plans for The Ladder.

In 2015 we stumbled across an old ambulance depot in Tottenham Hale.

over the next 5 years we would turn it into a space for us to experiment, our first show an audio adventure saw audience members shot out of the warehouse in coffins down a canal we built in the car park!

Spent today with Felix at Hall for Cornwall, sharing our learnings from the past 15 years.

It made me grateful for a shared adventure that’s seen us produce dozens of plays in crazy spaces, cycle the length of the USA, bus to Singapore and much much more.

Growing up in Penwith the far SW of Cornwall, shaped much of my work today.

The beginning & end of the line, first & last, where giants’ castles float in the bay, millennia old stone circles still dance on the moors & butt up against a dirty old town, poverty & affluence.

Shakespeare has been at the heart of RIFT’s work - www.riftexcursions.com

From MSND in the basements of Ally Pally, to Shakespeare in Shoreditch we push formal examination.

But my favourite was Macbeth, over night in a tower block in 2014!

Our building was gifted to the people by John Passmore Edwards in 1894.

A Victorian philanthropist can always be a bit of a can of worms… but not our John!

An advocate of education for all, an abolitionist who turned down a knighthood & gave away 90% of his wealth to build #libraries.

We believe, now more than ever, we need to take time to listen to one another, hear each others stories and share our own journies.

We are stronger as a community than the individuals that seek to divide us.

Follow us on this journey and come and say hi, wherever you a from.

We aren’t finished yet, but we’ve come a long way.

We now house a beautiful nursery in half the building and this autumn The Ladder hosted Redruth International Festival of Theatre. Thousands of people poured back into the building to share amazing live performances. #festival #cornwall #theatre

Slowly, together, we’ve put it back on its feet.
Our vision is to create a hub for the creation of performance and theatre, to share stories and experiences.

It was in a terrible condition when we found it. Ceilings on the floor, water running down the walls.
But slowly over the last three years with a lot of help from friends and support from Historic England, AHF, Heritage Fund and many more we’ve stopped the rot! #community #heritage #arts

When we discovered the Passmore Edwards library in Redruth it was semi-derelict, at risk of demolition or loss to the community it had served for 125 years.
Now our we hold it in trust, have renovated 75% of the building & are transforming it into a cultural hub The Ladder.
