i didn't 'get it', i didn't 'like it'. i felt estranged, like i could never be comfortable in company who praised that kind of film.

fast forward 15yrs, and i 'get it'. i was over-intellectualizing everything. i was the exact type that lynch loves to evade.

my David Lynch moment came two months after I moved to london. i was working a straight-laced finance job, but the weekends were my time to dabble in the weird. my mate joe had me over to his student flat where he lived with his art school friends. they were watching mulholland drive.
