🌊 Ocean, climate, Ocean-based solutions — https://jpgattuso.github.io
Jean-Pierre Gattuso is a French ocean scientist conducting research globally, from the pole to the tropics and from nearshore to the open ocean. His research addresses the biology of reef-building corals, the biogeochemistry of coastal ecosystems, and the response of marine plants, animals and ecosystems to global environmental change. He is also interested in transdisciplinary research, collaborating with social scientists to address ocean-based solutions to minimize climate change and its impacts. He is currently a CNRS Research Professor at Sorbonne University. .. more

Planets embody astronomy, humanity’s first science. Cuneiform quote from the epic of Gilgamesh (7th c. BCE):
“He who saw all, knew the hidden, revealed the secret.”

May the spirit of Paris be rekindled to help navigate today’s challenges in global cooperation.
We estimate the potential kelp biomass from seafloor irradiance. Predicted potential kelp biomass in 6 Arctic fjords in good agreement with published values.

- The “CDR tax" is a negative Earth System feedback which opposes the decrease in atmospheric CO2
- The One-Earth CDR framework considers land CDR and marine CDR together within the interconnected Earth System, recognizing that interventions in one reservoir trigger feedbacks in others
