You honestly can't make this up. There was no way #Brexit was ever going to cut regulation or bureaucracy for exporters to the #EU, large or small, unless we opted to stay in the Single Market and Customs union. Many of us in business repeatedly made that point.

Not enough of us however, make the argument about the cost of inaction, and I can't make it better than this article 👇

Thank you @enbw-ag.bsky.social Energie Baden-Württemberg, for giving us a view of what @greatbritishenergy.bsky.social might look like in 10 years' time. Great piece in the @theobserveruk.bsky.social It really fascinates me that the cost of inaction to prevent the worst of the climate crisis is never really covered in our debates on this.

According to this piece;
Cost of action = 1% GDP, cost of inaction between 5-20%

Very well researched piece by UCL - Wind power has cut £104bn from UK energy costs since 2010.

The only answers to better energy security and overall lower energy costs are more wind power and renewables - implemented in a way that allows for a just transition.

I went to a Leeds comp school in the 70s/80s and experienced #racism and #homophobia daily. I was so happy about the progress we made and the much happier country I lived in - until a recent return to the bad old days.

We are making incredible progress on driving the #energytransition although you wouldn't think so from the increasingly polarised debate. My latest thoughts on this topic in this @vocluk.bsky.social vlog 👇

This is a very powerful read - if you want to hear what it feels like to live on our UK streets right now. As Alex @sturdyalex.bsky.social says, we hear daily about the 'legitimate concerns' of people against less represented groups, but rarely hear this

Well done to the MPs from Labour and Libdems who have spoken up about this act - of what would be economic vandalism from Reform.

It's a shame that our media isn't challenging this more, but let's make sure we challenge and have a more balanced debate here.

Exactly this 👇 No 'saving' at all, and instead you end up with councils run by people not representative of the communities they serve, with the obvious outcome of not serving those communities well.
