Hang in there everyone.
In every hero's journey there is a low point(s) where they must overcome the odds. This message is heartening.

If @schumer.senate.gov caves, I will personally make sure everyone in our NY family who is independent right now changes their affiliation to democrat to help primary him.
Hey @schumer.senate.gov, a 'promise' from Republicans? WTAF? Are you a child? Even you can't be that naïve. Don't you dare do your kabuki theater with hundreds of millions of lives hanging in the balance.

If you can't play hardball, resign. Immediately.

This is part of the tragedy of a surrender now. It invites more pain and suffering by emboldening the regime. Why should they listen to a weak opposition?
Schumer and the Dems are about to teach Trump the lesson that they’ll cave whenever he abuses power to sufficiently hurt people.

Everyone should read this, then take a deep breath and let it out slow. We can do this.
If you understand why this shutdown happened, you understand the entire authoritarian strategy for 2026.
This shutdown ends soon. But what comes next matters far more.👇

Primarily because these are not europeople no one is paying attention. This has been going on for almost 20 years and people don't care about #Darfur. it doesn't matter how many times we scream about it they ignore #Darfur as though it is not occurring every day, just like they did with #Rwanda
What is unfolding in Sudan, where the armed group RSF has taken control of the key city of El Fasher, is "the sum of all our fears," says human rights investigator Nathaniel Raymond. "RSF is killing at a scale and a velocity that I haven’t seen since Rwanda."

Teen Vogue had also been doing great stuff on labour, unions and work in the US.
Devastating. Teen Vogue did real political reporting and writing on the issues, in a way that Vogue has not done for decades and decades (if it ever did).

To give editorial oversight of Teen Vogue to the Vogue team at this time really reads like neutering political criticism for young women.
They just gutted Teen Vogue which had top notch political journalism. The media is continuing to purge any sort of political dissent to Trump and the oligarchs.

Here's a video from Halloween at our house. Like the scary wind effect we arranged? Surprisingly we actually did see several trick-or-treaters who braved the elements.

I can be equally horrified about the destruction of the White House and democracy and also enraged that the Epstein files have not been released yet. Multitasking is a thing.

Attended the No Kings Rally at the Greenburgh Town Hall here in NY. I think there were between 200 and 300 people there, which was pretty good considering that it was only organized and advertised within the last 2 weeks.

When hell calls him home, I hope he spends eternity in a tenement apartment with one broken bathroom and 20 Steve Bannons.
It’s day 20 of the government shutdown and construction crews at the White House's East Wing tear down walls to make room for trump's f*cking massive ballroom.

A quarter of a BILLION…when Americans are struggling to get by. Absolutely shameful.

I've been reading Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell. I highly recommend it. I can now identify the thought terminating cliches used in these interviews. I guess it's not enough to shut down the gov't.
WELKER: Are you looking at invoking the Insurrection Act?

VANCE: We have to remember we are talking about this bc crime has gotten out of control

W: Crime is down in both Chicago & Portland

V: Crime is down bc they are so overwhelmed at the local level they are not even keeping stats properly

Last gasp of flowers
Before the first frost shivered
And crinkled petals.

Please remember to leave some leaves for the bees.
I clear paths in my yard and leave piles under bushes and in the flower beds.

I'm absolutely heartsick tonight. The town came and removed several trees in the lot between my backyard & my neighbors' yards. They also mangled a tree in my yard during removal & destroyed a bush below it. DPW never responded to tell us why this happened. I feel like I've been battered.😢
