Just got a pleasant surprise — the delivery of my author’s copies of my novel Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – RING OF FIRE! Look, folks — it’s a real book! And it sure looks snazzy added to my brag shelf.

What can this be? An oblong cardboard box delivered by UPS? Wait — it’s from Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster! And the invoice codes on the side … why, yes, it’s my box of author’s comps.

The cardboard box has been opened, revealing my 20 copies of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – RING OF FIRE, arranged in four even stacks. It’s quite colorful. It pleases me.

Here I am, the proud author, like a new parent, holding up my brainchild offspring (a copy of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Ring of Fire) in my home office. I’m so excited I don’t even notice until after the photo’s been taken that my glasses are on crooked.

David Mack’s authorial “brag shelf” packed with copies of his published work from across the last 25 years. His latest work, the novel Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – Ring of Fire, is top center, behind his Faust Award, which named him the IAMTW's 2022 grandmaster honoree.

In between the shelves of books, of course, is The Great Bunny Council, which continues to draw envoys and ambassadors from across all bundom.

This may look like an ordinary pic of me, but it’s a special day. I left my house wearing size 34 jeans for the first time in 20 something years and an XL shirt (that’s a concert tee, they run small) even though my shirt size is now a L. It feels good to FEEL GOOD.

It’s really hard in this day and age where every company seems to be run by a right wing CEO or have right wing ideologies, which battles to choose. WWE selling out and having Wrestlemania in Saudi Arabia was the last straw for me. Will not be ingesting in a product that takes blood money so easily.
