In 2015, #SanDiego pledged to eliminate pedestrian, cyclist and other non-motorist traffic deaths by 2025.

Not only has this initiative failed, but deaths have INCREASED.

Here are the 15 most dangerous intersections in the city, as of earlier this month:

Things you pull out of your tote as a mom when you get to your work trip hotel:

1. Potty training agreement from daycare
2. Reporting notes from last month’s work trip
3. A business card from a work trip 18 months ago for someone who’s become a good friend
4. An empty cookie sleeve

My last freelance piece for a while:

Cars are too expensive. Families want to be outside anyway. So they turn to golf carts as an alternative and then...kids get hurt.

How should families straddle the line between cost-savings, convenience, and safety?

Fun and practical, or dangerous and annoying? Golf carts have left the course — and are dividing neighbors.

Getting new details on this now:

As the arrest unfolded, teachers pleaded with the agents telling them the teacher had a work permit. The agents went into multiple rooms looking for teachers while children were present. One teacher hid with a child in her care while the agents stormed the facility.

A reminder (from my 2019 @theatlantic.com reporting) that as military families go without pay this shutdown, many of them are single-paycheck households relying on the servicemember's income because the spouses have been pushed out of the workforce.
