Contrary to what Tories and Reform claim, literally no one is arguing that Reeves wouldn't receive criticism if she were a man. But many of us argue that, because she's a woman, the criticism and coverage that Reeves does receive is often laced with misogynistic language and narratives.

Great news!

After a campaign from the APPG, the Chancellor has made tackling dodgy high street businesses a priority in today’s Budget – setting aside £50 million a year for the next 3 years to boost enforcement against money laundering & tax evasion on our high streets.

The Budget confirmed the speculation - Rachel Reeves has scrapped the two-child limit.

Our blog on child poverty considered the evidence supporting policy change. ⬇️
Child poverty remains a persistent challenge in the UK. At Wednesday's Budget, attention will be on the Chancellor & whether she will scrap the two-child benefit limit. The Foundation's @amiddletonbeer.bsky.social assesses the evidence for this necessary, but not sufficient, policy.

Despite this, I’m broadly optimistic about the future of foster care. The fact that more than 8,000 families came forward to foster last year is a wonder, given the commitment it represents.

Well, if it’s 26 November, it must be the 139th anniversary of a divorce case so saucy and notorious it gave us the phrase “what the butler saw”, and newspapers suppressed some of the details of the domestic servant in question’s testimony because it was “unfit for publication”

Neither of these men can tolerate accountability or constraint, which explains their animus against judges and law. Their regime from 2019 to 2022 was the worst and most dangerous anyone living in Britain today has known.

too true
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

I remember a neighbour rushing in to tell my mother that President Kennedy had been assassinated, although not sure I knew who he was. We lived in Singapore then but I don't remember if the neighbour was also Australian. Maybe she was American.
At 11:45 a.m. local time, President Kennedy’s motorcade departed Love Field en route to the Trade Mart for a luncheon.

Accompanying him in his Lincoln Continental were First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, Texas Governor John Connally, and his wife, Nellie.

Vice President Lyndon Johnson’s car followed.
