"Its a good time to be an American born criminal."

28,000 federal law enforcement agents have been detailed to ICE for immigration efforts (including almost 1/2 of DEA agents and 1/3 of ATF agents). I spoke to @themarshallproject.org @journo-beth.bsky.social about the impact.

“There are ranges of ‘loneness.’” I spoke about incitement unmoored from a group or movement. @cnn

Somebody can have major disagreements about ICE’s actions and not be violent. The White House blurs that line and speaks of a killer aligned with a violent left movement but the evidence doesn’t show that yet. It shows someone deeply involved with no one in particular. @cnn.com

Right, it seems clear now that the initial assumption he was a radical leftist (because of the victim) and then the idea that he was a far-right groyper (because of the bullets) both washed out.

Assassins are outliers in a lot of ways, I suppose. They don’t fit easy boxes.

The idea that the alleged killer in the Kirk case was a right winger is really not borne out by the evidence submitted in the indictment yesterday and people should stop saying that.

They have to catch him soon. Violence begets violence. The FBI needs to focus rather than tweet. More from @cnn.com

With hurricane and wildfire season well underway, state and local emergency managers say they have little idea how much support the federal government will provide if disaster strikes.

And the recent deadly floods in Texas have shown just how dire the need can be.
