Even our resident snow dog is a little dubious of the amount of white stuff we've received in the past few days

When leaves are replaced by snowflakes, you get snow-liage

The sketches will stay black and white but these mock-ups will eventually result in colourful felt ornaments: a blue jay for #blueTue today (plus a cardinal for an early #redWed)

I'm not normally excited to open an email but today was different

It looks like I have two and a half months to finely tune my wish list (another spicebush is already at the top)!

I realize I should've posted this yesterday for #CatBoxSunday, but since this is an #ornament and not a real #cat, would it have counted anyway?

After countless hours (and an absurd amount of beads and sequins), the tree topper is complete

The light dances off it nearly as much as I'd hoped it would

We'll soon find out if my 4 yo son thinks it's a gift or a curse that I have both the materials on hand and the know-how to make him an elf hat the night before a Christmassy spirit day

This is a far more ambitious project than I realized

Though I'd probably get done faster if I stopped twisting it around in the light every 10-20 minutes or so

The closest thing I have to #redWed is this blanket flower but it looks more like Jack Nicholson at the end of The Shining

I asked my friend to send me a picture of her cat because I want to make her a Christmas ornament based on him

On the left is the picture she sent

On the right is the almost finished ornament

I mean, it's almost uncanny, right? 😹

The last few days have been gray, wet and cold

Then while walking past a green space yesterday, I saw bold colour peeking out from the bare branches and browning grasses

One way #nativeplants are amazing: we've had snow, frost and freezing temperatures in recent weeks, yet some flowers persist

It's taken almost three years but today I was able to go through pictures of my late cats

Since one of the best parts of Bsky are all the cat accounts, I'm sharing some with the cat fans

This is Rogue 🌈, a sweet and quirky tortie, who had the soul of a corgi in a cat's body

My tiny shrub looks more like a prisoner than something under protection

But, despite three days of intermittent snowfall, it seems to be doing ok

(With no signs of squirrel sabotage as yet 🤞)

It's Remembrance Day

My partner and I went to Vimy Ridge in 2018

I knew its monument was massive but in person the absolute magnitude of it was just heartbreaking

Yet it doesn't seem big enough to truly represent the depth of sacrifice or the immensity of loss and devastation that comes with war

Since none of my native grasses amounted to much this year, I put out a few long bamboo skewers to create some additional landing spots in my pollinator garden

Uhhhhhh, success?
