Kentucky mom, cat person, reader. Still got my original PlayStation and SNES. I devour horror movies/ fiction. Fondly remember the few precious issues of Famous Monsters of Filmland I had when I was a kid.

Please no DMs.
So, we finally watched the new Frankenstein last night. My favorite parts were the cadaver jump scares. Reminded me of Spirit Halloween animatronics, in an awesome way.

When the monster told his story though, my brain kept picturing Derek Zoolander doing the lines.

Oh, well then. Good. It's only more typical chaos and incompetence.
G'morn☀️

It’s easy to lose hope when every day brings fresh outrage (omg it's exhausting)

But this matters: the White House reversed a $2 BILLION cut to mental health & addiction grants after just 1 day.

That didn’t happen by accident—it happened cuz ppl spoke up.

Keep speaking up. It matters.
Well, this is awkward... guess someone changed their mind about cutting funding: rollcall.com/2026/01/14/h...

Good news to end the night! Sleep tight 💚

This not only cuts substance abuse funding, but mental health support in SCHOOLS, which is critical for teens and pre-teens in crisis. My own young person might not be here today if they hadn't had access to school counselors at a critical time. This admin gives not one fuck about it's citizens.

Maybe the one other thing could be a Taco Bell salsa packet? Then you might have something there.
Brooke Rollins: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing. So there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money."

62 incidents of standing in front of vehicles to justify shooting.

Does legacy media do any fucking research before they post their lies!!! Don't answer that. Rhetorical comment.
Jon Ross was stationed in El Paso, Texas from 2007 to 2015. The El Paso border patrol office was under review in 2010 to 2012 because they intentionally stood in front of vehicles to justify shooting. There were 62 accounts of border patrol officer standing in front of vehicles and shooting

I have to work this morning, so I was forced to send my husband out to do an important errand in my stead. Now I have control-freak anxiety about it.

Very informative! I used to work at a library, and I didn't know most of this.
I was thinking about what gifts people used to give to readers (besides gift editions of famous poets' work and illustrated histories of wars and such), and while I was thinking about it, somebody brought a book to the counter....

We already watched Charlie Brown Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, the George C. Scott Scrooge, Jingle All the Way, Wind Chill, Barricade, Violent Night, and started to watch something about a Christmas tornado that had a misspelled title and a grown-ass teen girl holding a pinwheel for no reason.

How do people listen to audiobooks? A book I was looking forward to was only available in audio format on Libby, but it might as well have not been available at all. I tried to get into it, started listening during my lunch breaks, but my mind wandered and I couldn't follow the story at all. 😫
