Also Wen Zhihao's wings got broken and Qui Lin tries everything to fix them but he just won't manage and his helplessness is eating him alive.

Xu Jing obviously is a ugly duckling that turns into a beautiful phoenix duh.
Wu Yizhen is probably something akin to a falcon.
Wen Zhihao is an owl but one of those small ones and Qui Lin is maybe a crane? Or some water bird.
