Hi all! Am relatively new here although have been lurking for a while debating whether to switch from Twitter. I'm a programmer who likes to cook/bake, play video games occasionally, and recently got into cube solving so my posts may be a grab-bag in terms of topics. πŸ˜…
first attempt at making the NYT's cranberry curd tart. There's a bit less filling since I didn't realize the difference between a tart pan and a pie pan lol. Either way, should taste good πŸ˜‹ #baking

Replaying A Link to the Past since I never finished it when I was younger. Breezed through the first half, but then the Ice Palace block puzzle puts any hope of getting through any more temples tonight on hold.

setting dedicated time for routine stuff (like going to bed at 11pm and batching in other stuff ) also helps personally but can break down if the routine is broken due to life happening, not at home, etc.

absolutely relate, I struggle with this a bit. found that blocking out time in a calendar app (it sending out "15-minute before" reminder notifications) or setting alarms/timers works for me personally.

Got some pins for my work backpack. Tend to be a bit biased towards puzzle games so it got the most representation lol

The recipe I was using specifies to slightly flatten the dough before baking and it really does help the final shape.

There's something to be said about sticking with the OS you are familiar with. Linux has come a long way in the past 10 years but can imagine it can put Windows users out of their comfort zone trying it the first time still.

Sort of related: found out last year that PNG (as in the file format) is actually supposed to be pronounced "ping" per the official spec. Am not sure if I have ever heard someone use that pronunciation but it's technically there

Fun fact: the C in CPU actually stands for Central, as in Central Processing Unit. There's also the GPU, the MPU and the PPU. Those are the Greenwich Processing Unit, Mountain Processing Unit and Pacific Processing Unit.
the β€œC” in β€œCPU” stands for the C Programming Language. CPUs are called that because they are a hardware implementation of the C Abstract Machine as specified by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 22/WG 14.

These took surprisingly long to bake, the oven may be running colder than advertised or I had too many trays in. Either way they taste good so am not complaining πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Regardless I have been enjoying "North Woods" by Daniel Mason, at least the beginning of it.

Need to get into the habit of reading library books before I have to return them. Will get really into a book the first day I get it then forget about it until like a week before they are due πŸ˜…

If they can code for the web, I personally use GitHub Pages for hosting with a custom domain if it's just for a portfolio to get started (it's free, but code is public). If they need more capability right away (shops, etc.) then some of the options others suggested here are probably better

Would imagine encouraging that sort of change would require a whole shift in mindset on their end - how people express their ideas in code is really personal. If they don't see an advantage, they may not see the point in putting in the effort to learn something new.

Probably not the most efficient way to express this but I got ^(?:(?:inspired)+|(?:intimate)+|(?:invited)+)$

Started playing the #DragonQuest 3 remake on Steam Deck and it strangely feels easier than the GBC version. Not sure if it's just the lack of screen crunch - navigating dungeons when you can look ahead a bit makes the challenge with the high encounter rate a lot more manageable.
