this post is a joke
so because it just articulates with the server as it moves, you don’t really need any extra slack, also

the arm is articulated and travels with the server when you slide it out. IMO the biggest benefit is actually that they stop ethernet cables from getting caught on something or having their heads chopped off when installing or sliding out other equipment

you can’t see it in this picture but there’s even a little metal cross piece that slots into the back of the rails and acts as a little tray thing that the cable management arm sits on while it’s not extended

yeah! the one that goes with the Dell servers is even fancier, too — check this thing out:

one frequently overlooked but crucial aspect of the darmok episode is that it's the first one where picard has that snazzy starfleet jacket

i think that there is actually a pretty big difference between economic action and broader social sanction (not a value judgement towards either)
January 9, 2026 at 11:39 PM
i stand by my argument that a “boycott” is specifically a refusal to purchase products and/or services that one might otherwise have purchased with the intention of creating economic pressure to change the behavior of the seller. social sanction is a different thing.

i would personally quite like it if they automated everything EXCEPT for coding, so that i can spend more time coding
January 9, 2026 at 10:23 PM
oh that’s a good point. yeah.

January 9, 2026 at 10:13 PM
gf: “what’s the opposite of a Transformer?”

me: “uh, you mean like…a car that *doesn’t* turn into anything? a robot that *isn’t* in disguise?”

gf: “i meant a Decepticon.”
