Announcing my second novel, THE MINIMALIST.

This was an incredibly difficult and personal novel for me to write - one that spoke to my relationship to Jewishness, queerness, and Asian adoptee identity, my experiences with mental illness, and the agony and ecstasy of classical music. 🥚 (1/2)

No movement yesterday.

We're still at $883.12/2000 and needed to reach $1000 by the 20th to pay bills- despite all the help we're falling behind.

If we don't reach November's goal of $2k December will be impossible.

Please help. We're just trying to stay afloat until we can make up lost income.
I've put it off too long

In three days we won't have money for heating fuel, feed, or groceries. We're basically fucked. I need a goal of $2000 by the end of November, about $500 of that needs to be immediate, and we've never made a goal before.

Please help.

Well, for the few of you who haven't muted me already, I'm about to post our MA needs again. Put it off as long as we could.

This event was so fun!

Great hearing @kaileepedersen.bsky.social speak, and @sowerbooksne.bsky.social was lovely as always.

There's also currently a big cart of free / donate-what-you-want old SFF books, and a food drive going on for at least another week, so 👀
Join me at Sower Books @sowerbooksne.bsky.social this Friday to discuss SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS! This is my first ever book event in my hometown and I'm beyond excited to be doing it at a wonderful indie bookstore. Can't wait to chat all things Midwestern, Gothic, and spooky! 👻🌽

I did my first ever school visit yesterday at my old high school in Nebraska. The students were so sweet and asked really thoughtful questions. I hope they feel encouraged to pursue their artistic dreams, in whatever form they may come, and I'm excited for what the future holds for them. 😊

Had a wonderful time talking all things queer & BIPOC spookiness with my friend Briana Cox on The Dark Mind podcast hosted by Vince Midgard! 👻

Today's the day! 🙏✨
Can’t believe I’m going back to my high school to speak to the creative writing club. Feels really full circle. Growing up queer, Asian & adopted in Nebraska wasn’t always the easiest, but I hope I can encourage young Nebraskans in the arts, even in a small way.

Reviving this thread post- #Frankenstein watch if anybody else is in the Gothic mood
Tomorrow is my Pamina debut in a local production of The Magic Flute, and with spooky season fast approaching I thought I'd recommend some particularly haunted operas. With an emphasis on Jewish and LGBTQ+ composers & librettists, these five Gothic operas 👻 are among my favorites in the repertoire!

did you know that intercountry #adoptees born before 1983 have no guarantee of US citizenship, and instead are treated as immigrants who must obtain citizenship through naturalization? That they are subject to deportation if they have committed a crime or are deemed to be in the US “illegally?”

Check out this article in the New York Times @nytimes.com by @emilyhughes.bsky.social for a tour of literature's deliciously distressing, tenebrous, and grotesque Gothic texts. Honored to see the Midwestern familial rot and ruination of SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS among them! 🦊👻 @stmartinspress.bsky.social

and it’s been far too long since i last recommended the #adoptees feed, which can help you to understand why many of us regard adoption not as a solution but as a problem (a whole host of problems).

i’m so grateful to everyone who posts to this feed. if you would like to post here too, let me know.
