First book of 2026 completed (that I started last year). Blood of the Old Kings by Kim Sung-Il. Fantastic start to a fantasy series, looking forward to reading its sequels. Cain's chapters in particular were a highlight, and the book's thoughts on living under an empire was an interesting angle.

Pathfinder 2e's beginner box is supposed to be real good (though same niche as D&D). Brindlewood Bay could be fun (RPG Murder She Wrote), Dread is always a good time. Also been hearing a lot of good stuff about Mothership as well.

the original Lodoss was actually just D&D session transcripts, a la modern "actual play." they were published in a games mag & meant to demonstrate D&D to Japanese audiences. this is those in full, with the original illustrations, character sheets, everything!

I totally understand that, it was always easier for me to focus on what I could have done differently since it's the only thing under my control, no matter how big or small a difference it may have made :/

That is so difficult and depressingly enraging. I've definitely seen smaller cases of specialists (or just docs) who just focus on one solution, and am never sure if it's the specialization, knowing that insurance will only cover a thing, or just how much profit factors in

I’m seeing a lot of people talking about the US healthcare system today, of course, and I guess I feel like I have to let this thought that’s been eating its way at my brain for the last three months. I don’t know if this is a US or an overall medical issue. But it’s about cancer treatment.
