It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.
ICE at Midway Target and seem to possible be leaving. Lots of community members here

If I can put my psychoanalysis hat on, which I'm not at all qualified to wear but it's 2026 baby so that doesn't matter, "the war on protein" is coming from the moms and doctors out there who are looking at giant tubs of protein powder people buy to get swole and expressing mild concern.
a "war on protein"? the thing you can buy in about ten thousand different shapes and forms in every grocery store across the country? that protein??

Outside of the Europe/Anglosphere distinction we've uncovered, I think it's also interesting some otherwise persnickety folks accept the floppiness of the disk itself as a rational reason to go along with simply saying "floppy" and other kinds of brain did/do not.
I am the exact kind of pedantic nerd that would make this kind of argument if it were true, but I am also old enough to have used these. And yes, we just called them floppies. Almost nobody actually said diskette.
there is a woman on TikTok who has been arguing for months now with randos that keep insisting that nobody called 3.5" disks "floppy disks" or "floppies" at the time. it's weird. no matter what kind of proof she provides or how many agree with her, people are coming out of the woodwork to disagree

I don't think it's a coincidence that all of this (worldwide) is happening when most of the people who lived through WWII have just died. We need to do a better job of keeping their memories and ideals alive.
