I thought it was about time there was a new intro for me (and Daily #Wales). I’m in Eryri/Snowdonia, and am mildly obsessed with photographing it. Officially, I’m a food & wine editor, but also a spinner and knitter and an ex-archaeologist. I’m centre left and disgusted by the right ✊.

Daily #Wales with a damp autumnal Plas Brondanw from a couple of days ago (somewhat sheltered from Storm Amy, luckily)

A wet slate path between narrow borders with cut back ferns, and green grass. A tree arches over the path, many of its leaves a deep red-orange.

I also enjoyed the loud - and unassailable - assertion from a group of US tourists that Trawsfynydd power station was one of ‘your famous castles’. In fairness, Spence was inspired by Welsh castles when he designed it. But it’s definitely a nuclear power station. Being decommissioned, but hey.

Daily #Wales spent yesterday with a visitor, playing tourist on the heritage steam train up to Blaenau Ffestiniog. It was fab (and despite the, um, interesting sky it stayed dry).

(It stopped storming and raining and howling and was actually rather pleasant weather)

Debris on the shingle beach, a calm sea just coming in, the castle on its promontory - the floodlighting is visible though it’s still quite light - and a sky which might be ominous but equally might not.

Is anyone reading Alt Txt? I’m unconvinced, and might stop bothering… please react if you are and just let me know.

Newcastle says no to fascism.

The far right brought a hundred or so with them, bussed from far and wide. This city turned out 1000s, from local communities, estates and streets. Geordies of all backgrounds coming together and outnumbering the purveyors of hate by some distance.
