Finally figured out why the outfit looked so familiar on the women carrying the country name signs at the opening ceremony.

Let Lindsey Vonn be your strongest and final sign to please for the love of god stop pretending you are in any way comparable to a professional athlete. In literally anything.

Impressively shitty start to 2026 but I did just discover that The Cab put out a new EP (last year but I missed it so it counts).

The worst part is I can't decide if the Framber signing makes it more likely the Tigers won the Skubal arbitration (they suddenly have more money than expected to spend) or lost it (they're immediately trading him).

Nothing is going to stop the whims of rich guys who bought media outlets on a lark because they were bored one day. BUT I am begging everyone to support good journalism while it's still here. Read the actual articles, not just the headlines and screenshots. Pay for a subscription, god forbid.

I still use an iPod. It's hot pink. Plug it into the car audio system. I had to replace it about five years ago because I dropped it and it cracked but I refused to update the library. The vibes are immaculate. The other day it shuffled from Etta James to Mika to We The Kings.
I found my old iPod and I’ve ordered a PS Vita. It’s all part of experimenting with how I use digital technology in 2026.

On top of my update, find plenty of great reads from the past month in the January recap.

We are faced with so many unbearable, unimaginable horrors every day. You don't have to make things up to force your narrative.

Tonight's Grammys mostly just reminded me that I know where I belong: the angsty pop punk bands I've been listening to since I was 14.

Goes for Cher too, honestly
Every time I see Andy Garcia, I am morally obligated to share the clip of him and Cher singing Fernando to each other in MAMMA MIA 2. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB9r...

"Never stop working" is terrible advice!!!

I really like the new Noah Kahan but playing an entire music video as a commercial break is really weird???

I do give the Grammys a lot of credit for realizing that people just want to see performances, a lesson every other award show needs to learn.

I never feel older than watching the award show red carpets before the real celebrities show up.

There is a Polly Pocket vending machine in this airport terminal.

Everyone mourning Catherine O'Hara (so, everyone) really really should watch the Christopher Guest movies.

I have been in Florida for less than three hours. (I hate this state, I cannot believe I'm back here.)

Nothing hits like that "I'm on vacation, don't you dare message me" emoji on Slack.

Look, maybe the MacKenzie Gore haul is great (I have never once pretended to care about prospects!) but I think there's a pretty good chance the Nationals are getting caught in a constant teardown-rebuild-teardown loop with no exit in sight.

Oh I hope Mrs. Stearns is livid! Put your damn phone away at dinner!
Matt Arnold was David Stearns' assistant GM when the two of them traded for a 19-year-old Freddy Peralta in 2015. Tonight, 11 years later, he traded Peralta to Stearns...on Stearns' wedding anniversary.

Arnold: "I think I might have ruined his anniversary dinner."

Remember when Mets fans told me the season was over on Dec. 10?
January 22, 2026 at 2:50 AM
The Brewers trading away Freddy Peralta and his $8 million salary because they'd rather save the money is worse for baseball than whatever payroll games the Dodgers are playing.

The only thing that brings me joy lately is the pop punk Disney cover album.

Bellinger-Yankees was so inevitable that by the time it happened, I'm just annoyed.
January 21, 2026 at 6:32 PM
Mets should be on the phone to 29 clubs this morning asking which pitcher they can get for Brett Baty (it should be Freddy Peralta).
