Speaking of the Urdu thing, I’m basically Rachel Weisz’s character in The Brothers Bloom, a shut-in who collects hobbies. But her hobbies are *way* cooler.

So, I homeschooled both of my boys up to high school, which means I taught them both how to read. And let me tell you, if you've never tried it, it's a real journey. My eldest took to phonics like he was born to it, but my younger boy came into it with, shall we say, a certain set of skills.

I don’t believe the article going around that writers can’t figure out how to bring James Bond back. Clearly, Blofeld has purchased entertainment magazines to plant embarrassing stories about 007

I've been a @kumail.bsky.social Stan since he had a blog called The Wilhelm Scream, and I love everything he does (just caught him on the latest episode of FIONA AND CAKE!). That said, this is probably my favorite joke of his. It's just *chef's kiss*.

Today is the day I vow to remember the actor’s name is Jesse Plemons. As opposed to what my husband and I have been calling him, “Not Matt Damon.”

We love Not Matt Damon in everything, BTW. But now I can perk up at his name in the credits before I even see his face.

Movie night, my husband says, "Isn't there a new thing from that actor we both like?"

With no hesitation, I say, "Steve Zahn has a new movie out?"

It's possible we've been married too long? I mean, we like *lots* of actors.

(Turns out he was hoping for season 3 of Silo, which isn't out yet.)

So I've been on a bit of a quest to find and watch this film since I first heard about it. It's an animated film from 2022 called TITINA, about the first dog to travel (by airship) to the North Pole. It was so very charming, I'm not sure why there's no English language release.

I'm not saying I have a book-buying addiction, but I did just unlock Superbacker status on Kickstarter. Which I didn't even know was a thing. Yay?

I get about 20 of those AI-generated book marketing emails a day now between my two pen names, but I just got my favorite one ever. It was for SNARE IN THE BLIND ALLEY, the 15th Viking Witch book. Not only is this book not even out until January 2026.

I haven't even finished writing it yet.

Anything from Genndy Tartakovsky is an auto-watch for me, but this looks *particularly* awesome.
Genndy Tartakovsky shared test footage from his film ‘The Black Knight’. It follows a knight who controls a 20ft suit of armor. Sony isn't sure there's an audience for the film and haven’t greenlit it yet.

After Kpop demon hunters success I don't understand why Sony are dragging their feet on this!

Me, this morning: We're almost at the end of this book. Just a little bit more to go and it will be done!

My brain, 12,500 words later:

I don't post on Facebook or Instagram anymore, but I do occasionally scroll through to see pictures of family and such. Of course Facebook shows "Memories" to encourage you to post again. Not doing it there, but here I can say that this post from 9 years ago still totally describes me. No notes.

Chronic insomnia is cooking my brain again, which makes my writing very much a "Frye tries to play the holophoner" experience. It's a daily struggle. Weirdly, the fact that thanks to the BookBub I had recently, this is going to be my best month ever for sales, kind of makes it all feel WORSE?

On a more personal note, get a Bookbub, get a shit-ton of “marketing” emails using AI is totally still a thing. My actual fans are less… effusive.

The Namesake is a hella good movie. Although as a fan of Kal Penn, Tabu, the literary work of Nikolai Gogol, and above all the late Irrfan Khan, I feel like maybe the movie was only made for me in the first place. But it’s amazing.
Seems like very sound judgement to me.

I'm currently watching the second season of STARGATE SG-1 and playing TOMB RAIDER 2, in case you were wondering how far behind I am on pop culture. (Both are from late 1997, early 1998. By an amazing coincidence, my first child was born in November 1997. Just sayin'.) Totally enjoying both!
