We're half a decade into studies finding that improving airflow in classrooms will reduce disease transmission enormously, and that bleaching surfaces etc. does very little. And yet nothing changes. Waves of flu and colds wash over schools, and the schools pretend it's an act of God.

My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

Katharine Hayhoe: climate is not just another bucket, it's the hole in every bucket!
The most annoying thing about Bill Gates' recent #climate comments is the assumption that we can deal with climate OR public health as though we can't afford to do both and that they're not related.

Her framing is great!
If you take the time to read the whole Gates memo (which I did), the bulk of the content was mostly solid and encouraging. Really!

It was the FRAME that was off--very off, from the first line.

And when your framing is off, then how you make decisions and set priorities is off. THAT'S the problem.

at the ASG presser, I had mentioned in my question that Atlanta is the only city in the US where a journalist has been detained by ICE for doing his job. this is cruel and unnecessary and, plainly, a violation of human rights. it was the case months ago and still is the case now. fuck ICE.

Now he is tweeting in support of me.

Or used to work.

How is it possible that law enforcement need not identify themselves? What’s to stop any group of thugs from playing dress up and kidnapping people
A man understandably refused to hand over his ID or get out of the car for a bunch of masked thugs who refused to identify themselves.

And when he drove away, they opened fire on him.

This isn’t how you do any sort of enforcement when your goal is to uphold the law. This is gangsterism.
