A significant shout out also to our colleague, Dr Marcin Szczerbinski, and our amazing student partners who could not present with us on the day - we hope we did you proud!

If there are any questions - please feel free to flag Kirsten and I down or DM me here on Bluesky #AEC25 #AECongress25

The second talk was a workshop, presented with the fantastic Kirsten Hurley, and wonderfully supported by Tara Vernon and Dr Rachel Ferguson.

This workshop 'Neurodivergence in Education' aimed to simulate characteristics of neurodivergence & was essentially a workshop on a workshop!

(As per usual, late to the game) but really delighted to announce that I presented two talks at #AR25/#AECongress2025 yesterday (Thursday).

The first titled 'Exploring Autistic Children's Participation in Decision-Making in Irish Primary Schools' highlighted the ongoing findings of my PhD study.

Day 1

So far, sooooo good!

The last workshop of the day!

As an autistic teacher, I’m quite looking forward to this one:

Exploring Neurodivergence in Education: An Experiential Workshop by Kirsten Hurley and Katie Marah, University College Cork

#AEC2025
A projected presentation slide in a conference room shows the title “Workshop: Exploring Neurodivergence in Education.” The slide includes the Autism Europe and AsIAm logos at the top left. The session is scheduled from 17:00 to 18:00 in the Minerva Suite. Below the title, it lists: “Exploring Neurodivergence in Education: An Experiential Workshop” with presenters Kirsten Hurley and Katie Marah, both from University College Cork, Ireland. The bottom right corner of the slide displays the hashtag #AEC2025. A wooden podium with a microphone is visible on the left side of the image, and a closed white door is behind the screen.

It was such a powerful evening - and what a fantastic panel of authors!
Really hope the momentum keeps going after last night.

Really enjoying this book launch so far!

I'm not just saying that because I have a chapter in it - it's really a great collection of neurodivergent writers, researchers, educators and more.

So many intersecting themes, so much recognition of common structural problems in education institutions...💜
